words of wisdom in an unlikely place

"We've become a nation of peeping Tom's... people should step outside their OWN house and look IN, for a change."

sounds like a comment on our generation's 'reality'-craving, 'newlyweds'-watching, 'real world v. road rules'-taping, 'survivor'-Tivo-ing, pop culture...

it is a scolding given to Jimmy Stewart in 1953, from his role in Hitchcock's 'Rear Window.'

I guess we've always had a strange curiousity regarding other peoples' lives... but when is it too much?

they're grandkids don't need a show

the fact that her sister has a recording contract is proof enough this has gone too far

I honestly dont think that anything is wrong with reality shows, yes some of the shows may get too out of hand, but as for "the newlyweds", nothing is fake about it!..And good for Ashlee, now that she's got her new album!

certainly, nothing is 'seriously' wrong with SOME of the reality shows... but it's the abundance of these shows that gives rise to 'the swan' and 'simple life 2.' if someone can make a convincing argument why those shows aren't trash... then they might also be able to convince me who is the lesser of two presidential evils...

but then there's Fox News... are the execs at 20th Cent. Fox just trying to see how far they can push two different ways?

reality shows are fun to watch but overall a complete wastse of our time as believers - we like to watch some of them b/c to some extent we want to gossip and enjoy watching the world fall - to another extent we might feel compassion or empathy for these people b/c we somehow feel we relate to them on some twisted level - i think the Lord has given His children a good interest in the lives of others so that we through Him could reach out to serve each other and walk together - when the Lord is not behind our motive to get involved in someone else's life - something is wrong and needs to be reanalyzed
