maybe this, maybe that

i know many people who live in the "maybe's" of life... riding fences, to borrow an overused phrase... existing in the margins when there is a full page of deep color to be explored... passing over decisions and experiences because of indecision...

the truth is brutal.

often it is evaded... or omitted... because this helps us live in the 'maybe'...

i've had a hard time working out for myself how i feel about scripture, its authority, its infallibility, etc... but i do believe that it is True (that's a captial T, btw)... and this truth is made manifest in the person of Jesus...
the teachings of this Jesus, and his words and actions in relationship with other people, are beautiful in their simplicity and their power. Following the example of Jesus, and truly seeking after His mindset (Phil 2:5), builds a foundation of unity... a stable foundation that finds its cornerstones in community, honesty, purity, and action.
this kind of foundation doesn't leave room for living in the 'maybe'

and the kind of Truth that rebukes is certainly brutal.

simplify your life
hear Christ's call to conscience
engage your imagination
sing a song with a melody worth remembering
(quoted indirectly from Bono)
-from the sermon at Div. School convocation

i would add - be involved in the work of the Church, and in the life of the community.

no more room for 'maybe'

I think this is a good position to have on alot more things outside of religion. Granted the fence riders of God's kingdom will be spat from His mouth, but it is those on the fence of Belief that we should be most tender with in our nurtureing of their Spirit. This obviously shows some desire to belief, some yearning from within tugging at the heart's sinews pulling them closer to something bigger than themselves.

But as far as outside religion, people need to take a stance. Get off the fence and find what they're passionate about. Too many people today are afraid to ask the tough questions, to say those things that nobody wants to hear but have reiterated in then hearts. Pick up your skirt, grab your balls, and make the choi

very important point - the context makes all the difference.

i think i was referring to those who claim to be heirs to God's kingdom... those who have been exposed to the teachings of Jesus that i mentioned...

for those not exposed or unfamiliar with Jesus, i would soften my language and merely invite them to read, think, experience, and choose.
