if you haven't watched it yet, watch it.
it made me think about probably 15 different deeply moving topics... not the least of which is how important it is to be aware of the world we live in, and the community we are part of. we are reponsible to both.

to be honest....it wasn't just my lack of food that made me feel bad last night...that movie had a strange effect on me.
on the one hand, part of me reacted by thinking of how that particular situation has been 'remedied' to an extent, more or less. but the rest of me was awakened into remembering (or maybe realizing??..) that no, that kind of pain is NOT over, that there is an unimaginable number of people across the world who hurt deeply because of experiences that I, as an American, will likely never personally encounter.
movies don't frequently throw me into the kind of troubled reflection that this one did. i was [am] disturbed...more than i have been in a very long while.
it was good i saw that; my bubble needs bursting more often, i think. for one thing, it's frighteningly easy (for me) to box up in American confines both God and his charge to us to love beyond borders.
