"the first rule of Fight Club is..."

...not in effect at Campbell. I inadvertently attended one of the fights last week.... i mean, if you see 200 people in a giant circle screaming and laughing, wouldn't you be curious too? I had a good idea what i was walking toward as i got closer, and then what did i behold but two LADIES shoving each other around in boxing gloves and tanktops. Now, i can definitely appreciate a good fight (watched the finale of the Ultimate Fighter last night)... but what's going on here is very sloppy, and because of that even more dangerous. If you give an untrained musician a guitar, you get crap. If you put a gun in the hand of an untrained hunter, you're asking for injury. Even with two CU student trainers and an assistant coach or two as part of the ring, things like that are just time bombs.
So, here's my two cents - take it or leave it. this fighting stuff will end one of two ways: CU students will get bored with it when it's no longer sensational and drift to some other extreme, OR a serious injury will occur forcing the fights to stop. here's hoping for option one... and maybe this just shows hold 'old' i am... but, doesn't option two just seem a little more likely?

to indulge my testosterone, i just shoot up fools in Halo2. that's much more mature than a fight club bout, isn't it...?
